The following dogs were looking for homes at the time the Newsletter is being published - please see our main site for current dogs.

We have had a really good few days with finding new homes so currently only have these few looking for homes. However it is still worth giving us a call if you are interested in giving a home to a rescue Springer as we may know of dogs due to come in which have not yet been published on the site. Whilst some information is given on these pages it is not a comprehensive guide to the dog. If you wish to receive further information or discuss your suitability to any of the dogs detailed please contact us via telephone. Te ensure that we find the right homes for our dogs and the right dog for your home we need to have a detailed discussion regarding the suitability of both the dog and the home so cannot take such enquires via email.

Willow is approx 15 months old, liver and white and recently castrated. Willow is a bit of a stroppy teenager so  an experienced springer home will be needed with no children. Willow has bitten twice both times when he felt threatened so he will need an experienced patient home. As Willow is still a youngster, with the right home and training these problems can more than likely be overcome. To help with this behavioural support will be offered.

Ben was born on 1st May 2008 so is a mere 10 months old, he has been in his current home since he was 8 weeks old. Ben is said to be good both on and off the lead but like most Springers will occasionally throw a deaf one when called back. He is very submissive and may hide when encountering other dogs, he will bark at cats and birds but will not approach them. He is said to be good with children and has never been known him to growl at anything or anybody. He is a lovely tempered dog and enjoys his walks especially if he can splash about in mud and puddles. He is looking for a home where he can gain a little confidence and may benefit from being with a more confident bitch or friendly dog. As he is a young dog he will be looking for a home where someone is at home for much of the day and can give him the time he deserves. He is vaccinated but will need castrating.

Ben will be in a foster home from Friday 6th March so if you feel you may be the right home for him please give Heather a call on 01142879786.

Fudge, fudge, fudge.................. What can I say, he is gorgeous wub.gif But......

he literally has two personalities. Inside the house he is the perfect dog, he is the most loving little dog you can imagine, he is really playful and just loves snuggles, he will lay on his back for ages whilst you tickle his tum. You can bath him, groom him, clip him and he is just happy, he's no problem at the vets and we have never heard him bark. He has never shown any sort of aggression to any person (of any age) and seems to get on with any dog and doesn't appear to chase cats, sheep or birds etc etc.

Rabbits however are a different thing altogether and when he gets outside his "other" personality takes over. He wants to find rabbits and will do anything he can to do this. He was bought as a pup and went to a home with a lady who when he reached 6 months decided he was too active for her. He then went to live with her brother on a farm in the peak district. Here he was allowed all the freedom he could possible want (and this is what he expects now). When the farm was sold he went back into his original home, however he wasn't happy in a small garden after all the freedom he was used to and kept escaping. This is when he came to us. We have tried to re-home him twice and both times he has come back because he keeps escaping. However on both these occasions they have had a small garden and no other dogs, so we don't know how he would be in a large garden (he may not want to escape with space) or whether he would stay closer if other dogs were around. Unfortunately we have never had the chance to find out what he would be like in a larger area off lead as we don't have a secure area we can test him in and no one suitable has offered him a chance.

In a small garden and at kennels he is quite eager to escape and has done so a few times, he is a very fast digger, good jumper and can chew through a lead in seconds so there is a very good chance that even if he is kept on a lead at all times at some point he will escape. In order to keep these "escapes" down to a minimum he needs a very very secure garden where he won't be left alone and probably will need to be kept on a lead at all times. For the times he will escape he needs an owner who will not immediately panic, has good friends nearby who will help in finding him and who doesn't live near busy roads. We firmly believe there is a home out there for every dog - is yours the home for Fudge?

Coco has come to us as another victim of the economic climate, his current owner is having to move house and cannot take him with her. He is a lovely natured dog who gets on with other dogs, cats plus adults and children of all ages. He is almost 10 yrs old and has a thyroid problem which recent tests proved is being kept under control by medication, apart from this he is very fit and enjoys good health. He likes spending time outside but loves his home comforts too. His only vice is that if given the chance likes to eat stones and he is a little nervous when fireworks are going off. Due to his age and thyroid problem Coco will stay on our foster scheme, which means that although we are looking for a permanent home we will continue to provide financial support with his veterinary care.

Arthur is around 7 years old and came to us following a divorce. The couple had taken Arthur from another rescue about a year previously and had been told he was a good family pet. They did not find this however and found him to be nervous in new situations and not especially interactive with the family, we feel that some of this could have been caused by the arguments and tension within the house prior to the separation of his owners. He will need a special home though, we think he is probably deaf (or could just be ignoring us) and does not get on with other dogs and as his previous owners say he could be nervous we need to take this into account and therefore would prefer him to go to a quiet home with no other pets.

Moss is a dog with issues and will need a male only home with someone who has extensive experience of dogs (preferably problem ones). Although our policy is that our dogs are to live in Moss needs to be living out (in purpose built warm housing of course). he's quite friendly and loves walks etc. However when in a home environment he can be unpredictable and sometimes aggressive. He needs to be kept active and stimulated so would need a home where he can be given loads of time. He isn’t a dog to enjoy cuddling and stroking (unless on his terms) and wouldn’t be suitable to go to a home with children, but may enjoy the company of a bitch (though would have to be kept separate at food times). We can of course provide a much more detailed account of his life should you feel that you may be able to offer him a chance
