Oscar & Tikka Update
Oscar and Tikka are a lovely pair of youngsters who came to us after a family break up. Poor Tikka is just a baby herself and very tiny and has already had a litter of pups. Not only had she had the trauma of these being taken away, they’d both lost their home and family too. All they had was each other so we really needed to keep them together. That’s where John came in, he came looking for one Springer and left with two. Not long after they gone we received this email
Hi Folks
Remember us – we stayed with you whilst you found us new owners to look after.
Well, our new Dad took us a long way away and we were very scared, When we arrived our new Mum was waiting, Oscar took one look and fell love (and so did Mum). Me well I am Dads girl really but they both spoil ‘dus and we spoil both of them back.
I don’t like to get in the car cos I don’t want to be left, ut Mum says I’ll soon learn that going in the car means big runs at super new places. Dad says I’m doing well on the lead but Oscar still has a long way to go (but he’ll get there)
I’ve got
lovely BIG window ledges to sit on and watch the world go by, cos I looks after
the house and my lovely new bed and lots of toys (Oscars got some as well). We
gets lots of walks and runs and Dad says we’re getting really strong, I still
can’t catch them rooks tho! Mum says we both really good in the house and we
are really social. My new friend is a cocker called Maisie. Oscar
doesn’t like men in helmets, he swears at them, oops, he’ll get over it.
Um think that all for now, will send some pics when Mum and Dad can get us to stand still long enough, its just all just too exciting at the mo.
Well, got to go, but Thanks for looking after us, hope you don’t mind but we want to stay here now
Lots of Paws and Licks
Oscar and Tikka
On a more serious note, they really are a super pair of dogs and yes they are bad on the lead but we are very patient and they both WANT to be GOOD dogs, so we’ll get there in the end. They both have issues in the car – but we are addressing that as well.
We will let you have some pics, but getting them to stand still is not easy. As you know we’d only intended getting one dog so these two were an extravagance, but it is one that we don’t regret. Our house just became a home again.
Tikka and Oscar are wonderful companions even this soon, we are very grateful to you for all your help. Will be in touch again soon
Thanks from all four of us

Update
Day 1
Well what a day!!! Had loads of fun yesterday at the SYESSR open day at kennels so I figured today would be a ‘chill’ day in my kennel, eating all the pies!! This was not to be……….just as Auntie Alison was tidying up my ears this mad woman with 3 dogs arrives (2 of which looked very similar to me). Anyway I did my upmost to be sociable with these canines even though the 2 that looked like me were both boys huh. The brown one, that looks like coconut matting, turned out to be a girl though, wey hey.
Anyway, as fast they arrived, they were gone again……but ooh, what’s happening now? I’m going for a trip in Auntie Alison’s car and lo and behold, here they are again but this time they’re in a house with a HUGE back garden that looks like a paddock (I must be dreaming). The mad woman says “oh just let him go, they’ll sort themselves out” and guess what? We did…….
Day 3
Mad woman says I’ve got to be a good boy and not run off if she lets me off the lead – she made up some poor excuse about not being able to stay on her feet when I’m on the lead. What does she expect when the other 3 are running about unhindered!! Anyway, I sort of figured I was onto a good thing by then so apart from my first frantic dash for freedom, I realised there was safety in numbers and stayed with the pack (I’m not daft you know).
I tell you what though, there’s a bloomin lot of rules in this house (yep she’s a fan of the Dog Whisperer), the main one being I’m NOT allowed to be the boss!! Pretty appalling I hear you say, well I showed my teeth, did all the grumbly stuff that’s worked before, but to no avail. Now there comes a point in a boy’s life when you know you’re beat and have to give in gracefully. I’ve not grumbled much since as there seems little point as mad woman just carries on doing what she’s doing and ignores me.
Week 4
Well, I’ve had a haircut cause mad woman (or mum as she is now known) says I’m a muck magnet and can find a dirty puddle half a mile away – cheek!! I’m a springer, it’s what we do!! We called at Elsecar Heritage to see Auntie Alison and Uncle David today, after a walk, and I took great delight in making them ‘muck magnets’ as well (it’s what I do). Auntie Alison asked if I was staying and mum replied “oh yeah, he won’t go anywhere now” – zippadee doo daa!!
Long Story Short Bit
To cut a very long story short I’ve been here several weeks now and things are looking good. I go out for 2 long walks a day, get fed twice a day (although I am on a diet cause I ate too many pies) and have my pals to snuggle up to on the settee of an evening. There’s sometimes a bit of a bun fight as to who gets the prime position on the settee (curled round the back of mum’s legs) but we kind of take it in turns, so it works out fine.
I have a passion for dead things though and am often found carrying anything from a dead rabbit to a squirrel in my mouth. Mum doesn’t seem to mind, as I do get bored very easily, and have never tried to take one home. Mum says I permanently look like I’ve got 10 rounds with a pit bull as I have a nasty habit of going through hawthorn and holly bushes, rather than going round them – I think it makes me look ‘hard’ having scratches on my nose!!
So it turns out Auntie Alison’s faith in me was justified after all. I am really a very nice boy (don’t tell anyone I said that), I was just a bit insecure hence all the grumbling at the start. I really am a very cuddly Buddy.
p.s. suppose I ought to mention my pals as well, Bonnie (the coconut matting one), Chance (looks like me) and Clyde (another one that looks like me). Yep, I live with Bonnie and Clyde!! Oh yeah……and mum.
